...to finishing our paperwork!! We have to complete our family photo pages - which must include 2 separate full family photos - i.e. it looks like you like each other at least on 2 different occasions! Our passport photos - I think they use those to put on the front of our file or something. Our financial statement which has to perfectly match our employment letters. We're waiting on one piece of info to come back from California and we'll be able to complete our homestudy!!! We're sooooo close to being done!!!! I can't believe it! It was A LOT of stuff to put together - yet we just took it one piece of paperwork at a time :)
My prayer is that we'll be able to have EVERYTHING done and sent in by April 15th!!! We'll make that a date to celebrate rather than dread this year! ha!!!

Palm Springs!!!
We had so much fun at the zoo -it's called "The Living Desert"....and it REALLY was - here we are sitting on a warthog...well a sculpted one!
MORE new babies!!!
They're doing well. Mimi is a great mom. What's been truly funny is watching Mickey - he can't seem to get enough of them.....but then neither can we!!!

What a week!!!
One ER visit, one 1:1 interview, 2 baby goats, 5 Jewelry shows, and one home visit down.....whew!
Yes, the week started with a bang...or rather a slice. Poor Caleb tried to chop his finger off with a hatchet. Of course I had my meeting with the social worker in Spokane in less than 2 hours. I couldn't quite figure out how to call her and say "um, I can't make the meeting with you b/c my son found a hatchet and tried to cut off his finger...but I PROMISE I'll be SUPER careful with the one you let me adopt!" That just didn't want to roll off my tongue - So off to the ER with daddy he went. Miraculously it was just 3 stitches! I tell you - Caleb's guardian angel(s) sure work overtime for that boy!!
In spite of the near miss the 1:1 interview went very well. It was VERY detailed....I practically had to outline my bathroom routine! crazy!
On Tuesday the baby goats arrived! I was up until 2am trying to convince them that the bottle was their friend....and they still didn't figure it out until the next morning. Poor boys! They're INCREDIBLY adorable. I know now why they call them "kids". They bounce and play just like toddlers. We named them Wags & Frank Jr (after Jack's iPod - Frank!). So much for "we'll only have animals with a purpose"....how do you send something to market that comes when you call it's name??? I guess they'll just be expensive lawn mowers :)
What's next - oh 5 jewelry shows! I know, I'm crazy....but this adoption is expensive & people keep saying YES to booking a show!!!
Finally - and even more dreaded than the 3 stitches on Monday - the Home Visit. It went really well....after being up until 2am cleaning the night before! I know they're not really there to check the cleanliness of your house...but really - how could they not notice??? I'm to the place where anything I have control over (like if the toilets are clean) I take it!!! Wouldn't you know it - she wanted to use the bathroom before she left and Jack was "busy" in the main bathroom....and Matt told her to use the OTHER bathroom - HORRORS!!! That's the BOYS ONLY bathroom. It doesn't matter how much bleach you use - it's DISGUSTING in there!!! WHAAA!!! 3 hours in our home and THAT's what stuck in her mind all the way back to Spokane!!!
The funniest part of all of it was in the "preparing" for the home visit stages - the social worker needed to talk to each of the boys alone about the adoption. So we've been checking out tons of books about adoption - there's some amazing children's books on the subject - and using any chance we get to talk about it with them. So I've got Caleb sat down & I'm telling him about how he's going to have a little sister and it'll be so great because she's coming from Africa - I'm really trying to market the whole thing. He sits there cute as can be and then promtly asks me if she'll be bringing him "tractors, diggers, and combines" when she comes home!!! I laughed so hard! I think they call them horses in Ethiopia, but we'll have to do a little research. I promised him his little sister would bring him a tractor! Bribery will get you everywhere :)
