How do you even begin to put into words this experience?
As I sit in the Frankfurt airport, Toy Story 3 playing on the laptop, my 2 new loves eating their first pretzel and giggling over the antics of woody and buzz, and tears streaming down my face as I think of their daddy getting to hug them on American soil today....i am humbled...overwhelmed...grateful...pinching myself that God would choose ME for this incredible journey!
It's been an amazing three days. To say the least!
I barely slept the night we arrived. I was just too nervous and excited. At 5 am I finally got out of bed and showered. We left at 6:45 to pick up the kids and whisk them to our 9am appointment at the embassy.
We were a bit early to the transition home. I walked in and saw my little nakey jay bird running to get dressed, they knew we were coming today! The nannies quickly shooed me out and sent me to the "living room" for what turned into the longest 10minute wait of my life!!!!!
But it was so worth it! Bona rounded the corner and jumped into my arms!!!!! He has always been a bit reserved with me, but not this time! We have had a few minor, very minor meltdowns, but compared to last time they are NOTHING!
This whole adoption has been about Gods timing being perfect...that's been my mantra and what kept me reasonably sane when things were moving quickly, and when things came to a stand still.
I love how hindsight is 20/20! You can always see Gods amazing hand and perfect timing when you look back. Bona needed that time to wrap his head around all the changes to come. I just pray that next time things don't seems to be happening in Jill time that I will remember THIS!
So we zipped over to the embassy...which if you've ever been to addis ababa you know that involved ridiculous levels of smog and roller coaster like driving. My poor baby lost his breakfast all over himself! But I had an extra set of clothes with me!!!!! I had meant to change them before we led the transition home, but it looked like he had taken such consideration picking out his clothes that I didn't want to ruin that. So whew on the change of clothing!!!!
The embassy was a quick 20 minute process and after raising my right hand and signing a document that I knew Bona had a scalp fungus and that I still wanted him...duh...we were off!
